Eight Wellesley Swimmers Earn NEWMAC All-Academic Honors
Wellesley College Swimming and Diving is pleased to announce that eight of it’s athletes have been named to the NEWMAC 2010 Winter Academic All-Conference Team. With these eight awards Wellesley College ranks as the second most decorated school on the 2010 Winter Academic All-Conference Team behind only MIT with 10 nominations.
Wellesley College Honorees include seniors Emilie Mitten (Norfolk, CT), Alex Stark (Moorestown, NJ) Abigail Friedman (Bristow, VA) and Laurie Adamson (Silver Spring, MD), fifth year Savanna Johnson (Bloomington, IN), and sophomores Olivia Hulme (Alma, MI), Melanie Kaplan (La Jolla, CA) and Allison Yee (Cupertino, CA). Mitten, Stark, and Jonson are three time All-Conference team members, while Friedman makes her second appearance, and Adamson, Hulme, Kaplan, and Yee make their first appearances.
To earn NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors student-athletes must have met the following criteria:
- Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 (4.35/5.0) after the 2009 Fall semester.
- Achieved second year academic status at her institution.
- Been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Congratulations to Mitten, Stark, Johnson, Friedman, Adamson, Hulme, Kaplan, and Yee for their fantastic representation of Wellesley College student-athletes!
